The initial phase is often particularly treacherous in survival games. In Raft, you start out on a tiny 2x2 raft. With these tips, it won't stay that way for long:

• Use the hook immediately to fish as many items out of the sea as possible. Especially productive are barrels, because there are several materials contained (at random).
• Build your first spear soon to be able to fend off the shark.
• Then build the construction hammer and enlarge your raft with some foundations. This is done with planks and plastic. You will eventually need some space for vital items such as cleaner and grill.
• Also the fishing rod is very important, because you can get fish with it to grill.
• Let your materials allow it, build a throwing anchor to be able to land in front of an island. There you will find valuable resources such as sand and metal ore in the water.
• Build the research table. There you can unlock new items.

You initially fight against hunger, thirst as well as the shark - it is therefore important to set the course early and be armed against exactly these dangers. If this succeeds, you can devote yourself more and more to the expansion of your raft, which for many players is the real fun of the game.
