Synology NAS: Setting Up WebDAV Server

If you want to access a Synology disk station from your computer, this is no problem further on. Remote access gives you the ability to access and conveniently view your files and movies from anywhere.

Synology NAS: Set Up WebDAV Server - The First Steps

In order to access the Synology NAS, you need to connect via a WebDAV server. You can configure this in the user interface of the NAS.
  1. First log in to the user interface of the NAS.
  2. Now search for the WebDAV server and install it.
  3. After installation, the system will inform you which ports you need to open on the NAS for WebDAV to work.
  4. Now go to the control panel of your Windows system and navigate to "Security" and further to "Firewall".
  5. There you click on the item "Edit rules".
  6. Further select "LAN" in the upper right corner and create a new rule via the button "Create".
  7. By clicking on "Select from the list of built-in applications" you can search for the entry "WebDAV Server, 5006" and set a check mark.
  8. Now open the Diskstation interface again and select the WebDAV server. Aktivieren Sie im Folgenden den HTTPS-Port.
  9. Klicken Sie abschließend auf „Übernehmen“.
  10. Damit Sie auf den NAS zugreifen können, müssen Sie jetzt nur noch eine neue WebDAV-Verbindung starten.
