Synology NAS setup - a compact guide

If you want to benefit from modern NAS systems and take advantage of its numerous features, you need to do some basic configuration beforehand. If you want to set up a Synology NAS by yourself, there are some things you need to pay attention to.

How to set up a Synology NAS

Before you can start the basic configuration, you need to provide Synology NAS with a hard drive. After that, the system needs to be integrated into the home network and powered on before you start configuration.

1. Find a Disk:Use www.find.synology.com to find your NAS on your LAN. Once the system identifies your LAN, you need to press "Connect".
2. Set up Diskstation Manager: Now a new window will appear, click "Setup" to install Synology operating system. Select "Install Now" and wait for the process to complete. After that, you need to set up your administrator account and click "Next".
3. Set up QuickConnect function: By setting up this function, you will enable yourself to access your NAS from any internet-enabled device. Dafür müssen Sie die Option „QuickConnect-ID mit neuen Synology-Konto erstellen“ auswählen und den Anweisungen folgen.
