SVERWEIS: Multiple results - you need to keep this in mind

To search for specific entries in your Excel spreadsheet, you can use the SVERWEIS and WVERWEIS functions. These decide whether the search is performed column-by-column or row-by-row. If you want to output multiple results with a SVERWEIS, then this is usually not possible.

Is it possible to output multiple results with a SVERWEIS?

With a SVERWEIS you can search in Excel for an entry in a column that meets this search criterion by specifying a search criterion. Here you can specify as many search criteria as you like, then you will get back the first entry that meets this criterion. However, if you want to output several results, this is not possible with this function. For this you need another procedure.
  1. To get multiple events after a search, use the INDEX function.
  2. You still need other functions with which you can then link and assemble your search query piece by piece.
  3. This can then look like this, for example: {=INDEX(2:309;KGRĂ–SSTE((2:309=1)*(LINE(2:309)-1);COUNT(2:309;1)+1-LINE(A1)))}.
  4. Make sure, above all, that this is an array formula. This means that the curly braces must not be entered by hand. Once you have entered the formula, press the key combination "CTRL" + "SHIFT" + "ENTER". Subsequently, the curly brackets are set automatically.
  5. What the formula ultimately looks like for your use case depends on your table. Here it is important that you combine the various functions sensibly with each other.
