Flying drones - what to keep in mind when using them

The popularity of drones has been growing in recent years. If you too would like to try out what it's like to fly a drone, however, it is necessary beforehand to familiarize yourself with the controls and know the applicable rules.

What to keep in mind when flying a drone

Having bought a drone, it is necessary that you familiarize yourself in detail with its operation. Here, it is especially important that you know how to properly control the drone. Depending on the drone model, the control is either via app or with a remote control.
  1. If you have a remote control for your drone, this usually consists of two control sticks, which you need to control the direction of flight and speed.
  2. If you use the Mode 2 on the remote control, the left control stick serves to determine the speed and to control the rudder.
  3. If you press the right control stick up or down, the height of the drone can be changed. Press the stick again to the left or right, you can operate the aileron.

Drones: These rules are to be observed when flying

If you are familiar with the control of the drone, you can take off for a first flight with your multicopter. To do so, find a suitable launch site such as an open field or a model airfield and make sure the drone's battery is fully charged. Since you will need to prove that your drone is insured at all times, you should also carry proof of liability with you. Depending on how heavy your drone is, you may also need to mark it with a sticker that includes your name and address.
