To ensure that only you have access to the messages in your WhatsApp chats, it is recommended to protect the app with a password. But WhatsApp itself does not have such a feature yet. We will show you how password protection is still possible in this article.

How to protect WhatsApp on Android with a password

To protect your WhatsApp messages from unauthorized access, it makes sense to set a password for the app. However, WhatsApp does not yet have a built-in feature to secure the app with a password. Therefore, your only option is to install an additional app on your Android device to set a password for WhatsApp.

1. Free of charge, this is possible with the app "Protect Messenger" from Bunny Labs, which you can download from the Google Play Store.
2. Once you have installed the app, please open it, give the app the necessary permissions and set a four-digit PIN number.
3. Followed by this, you still have the option on the app's home screen to select other apps, such as Skype or Gmail, which should be protected by the PIN.
4. To prevent the PIN entry from being bypassed by uninstalling the "Messenger-protect" app, you should set a security question in the app settings to block the deletion.
