Rust: Watering plants - these options are available

Under the motto "Farming 2.0", Rust got a big update on plants at the beginning of April 2020. We explain how to water your plants properly now and what to keep in mind.

Water march: when watering plants in Rust, you need some know-how.

Water means life, and plants of all kinds are the best example of that. It is therefore all the more important that you water your potatoes and co. skillfully.

Rust: What to consider when watering plants

Here are the basics on watering:
  • You can basically water your plants in two ways: Manually, such as with a water bucket, bottle or canister, or by sprinkler.
  • The sprinkler does not require electricity. However, it must be connected by hose to a water source (for example, barrel or water catcher).
  • The sprinkler works continuously as long as water is available. A dosage is not possible. However, it distributes the water slowly and evenly in the bed.
  • A sprinkler can water several plant boxes in parallel, if it is positioned in between.
  • However, you should be careful not to overwater the plants. Decisive for this is the water saturation, which you see when you move the mouse pointer over a plant. A value of 100 percent is desirable here and will not be reached with a full water volume (9 liters in the large planter box). The same applies if there is too little water in the box.
  • A tip for this: Water the large planter by hand to about 7 liters, and then let the sprinkler connected to an empty water catcher to work. In this way, you keep the water level reasonably constant at the ideal level, although not permanently.
Also keep in mind that water consumption in planter boxes increases with the number of plants. Consequently, you will have to refill water more often or let the sprinkler work.
