Windows: Disable touchscreen feature made easy
Simply disable the Windows touchscreen feature if you no longer want to use it. If you want to disable the feature because it is not working properly, you can also try to fix the problem on your own. If there is still a warranty claim, contact the manufacturer.
How to disable the touchscreen function in Windows
- To disable the touchscreen function, first start the Device Manager in Windows. For this, it is best to enter "Device Manager" in the search bar and click on the corresponding search result.
- In the list of listed devices, now click on the arrow to the left of "Input Devices (Human Interface Devices)".
- In the expanded menu, select "HID-compatible touchscreen".
- Then click "Action" in the top menu bar of the Device Manager and then click "Disable Device".
Touchscreen function does not work properly?
- If the touchscreen does not work properly, the first thing you should do is check whether you have installed all drivers and the latest updates. To do this, navigate to Update and Security in Windows 10 and let the computer check for updates under "Windows Update".
- If this does not solve the problem, restart the computer and start the UEFI mode. Under "Device Service and Repair", you can start the service job for your device.
- If you have calibrated your Surface device manually, this step might be responsible for your problem. Reset the settings to the default settings provided.
