Formatting hard disk in BIOS and without CD: How to do it

In principle, you can format your hard drive without an installation CD. To do this, you use the BIOS of your device as well as the Windows 10 ISO file. The procedure depends on which partitions of your hard drive you want to format.

How to format Windows hard drive in BIOS

If you plan to format the partition of your hard drive where your operating system is stored, you first need to completely reinstall Windows. To do this, you will need an installation CD or a USB stick with the Windows 10 ISO file.
  1. Boot Windows from the USB stick.
  2. Follow the instructions to reinstall Windows.
  3. After agreeing to the TOS, select the "Custom" option.
  4. Here you can format the hard drive and then reinstall Windows on it.

Formatting a data hard drive without CD in Bios

A formatting of the partitions of your hard drive, on which no system-relevant data is stored, but also possible without CD. To do this, proceed as follows:
  1. First, open the My Computer of your PC on your screen. This is easy by typing "This PC" in the search bar and select the first result.
