MacBook: Square bracket - with these keys it works

There are several types of keyboards, most of which hardly differ. Nevertheless, the different characters can be in different positions, which makes them activated by other keys. Even on the MacBook, it is not easy to find the square brackets. They are not always noted on the keys.

How to find the square brackets on the MacBook keyboard

Typically, the so-called "Windows" keyboard is the most common. This has a certain structure and regardless of the device, the special characters, letters and numbers are usually in the same positions. However, if you switch to a MacBook keyboard, this can be unusual at first. Some keys are replaced by others, such as the Windows key by the "Command" key, and the position of many special characters is also changed. For example, if you look for the square brackets on the keyboard, you will find them next to other number keys than usual.
  1. The square brackets are located on keys five and six. However, to be able to write them, a key combination is needed.
  2. To write an open square bracket, therefore, first tap and hold the "Option" key at the bottom left. Then tap the "5" key.
  3. If you want to close the bracket again afterwards, hold down the "Option" key again and then select the "6" key.
  4. Normally, the keyboard does not show the position of the brackets.
