Turn off overwriting: These keys help
Using your keyboard, you can directly activate various functions of your operating system or applications. So it is possible to delete marked words with the "DEL" key or to switch to the "overwrite" mode. If you want to end this again, then this is also done via the keyboard.
How to turn off "Overwrite"
When using the keyboard, it can quickly happen that you accidentally activate the "Overwrite" function. In this case, all characters to the right of the current position will be overwritten directly when you type more characters. This is subsequently used in every application. If you want to end the function, this is usually done in the same way as the activation.- You activate the function via the "Ins" key on the keyboard. Press it again to deactivate the function. Most keyboards have corresponding LEDs above the keys, so you can see exactly whether the function is activated or not.
- If you use Word, then you can also disable the "Overwrite" function directly via the application.
- To do this, first go to "File" in Word. Then select "Options".
- Now click on "Advanced" to display even more options.
- Now activate or deactivate the item "Enable Ins key to control the overwrite mode".
- After that, the "overwrite" function is off or set accordingly.
