Excel: How to square a number
Microsoft Excel offers you several ways to perform calculations. If you want to square a number, this is possible in several ways. So you can use the power function, which is represented by a caret character "^". Here, the formula N^2 is used, where "N" is replaced by the number to be squared.- To square a number in the same cell, select the corresponding cell and add the term ^2.
- Then press the Enter key so that the result is displayed in the cell.
- Alternatively, you can also use a reference when squaring. To do this, select an empty cell and type the formula = cell ^2. Replace cell thereby by the reference to the cell in which the number to be squared is located.
- Confirm your input afterwards also with this method with the "Enter key" to get the result.
