iPhone speaker doesn't make a sound - what to do!
If you don't hear anything, the iPhone speaker is not necessarily broken. Before you take it in for repair, you should check some volume settings and other causes.
How to determine if your iPhone speaker is broken
If no sound comes out of your iPhone's speaker, check the following possible causes:- First, check if your iPhone is set to silent. To do this, open the Control Center by swiping down from the top. If the bell icon is crossed out, tap it.
- Open the settings and switch to "Sounds" or "Sounds & Haptics". Now move the volume slider. If you hear a sound, the speaker is not broken. Possibly the sound is muted in the app in which the problem occurred.
- Check whether the device is connected to a headset or headphones and therefore no sound can be heard from the speaker.
- Possibly the speakers are dirty or covered. Clean them with a fine-bristled brush.
- Sometimes it helps to reboot or reset the device to factory settings.
