Many users of WhatsApp don't know that the text in messages can be formatted. You can write individual words or entire sentences in italics or bold font and even cross them out. This can be done with simple commands. Only text in WhatsApp cannot be underlined.

How to write in italics, bold or strikethrough in WhatsApp

WhatsApp is currently the most used messenger. But only a few users know all the features that the handy app offers. Among them is the ability to format text. With simple commands, you can write text in WhatsApp in italics, strikethrough or bold. However, the option to underline texts is still missing. This has practical reasons and will probably remain so. Text with an underline indicates a link on the Internet and is therefore occupied with certain functions. Presumably, underlined text will therefore never come to WhatsApp. Even with the other formatting, however, you can already spice up your messages and highlight individual statements.

Format text directly in WhatsApp

• Cursive: Put an underscore directly before and after the first letter that should be italic. There can be spaces between the words: _This text is italic_
• Bold: Frame the text with asterisks: *This text is bold*
• Dashed: Put a tilde before and after the first letter: ~This text is struck through~
