  1. Open the WordPress login page.
  2. Click "Forgot your password?"
  3. Enter the email address that your WordPress profile is linked to and click "New password".
  4. You will now receive an email with a link. Follow the link to enter a new password.
After that, the new password is active and you will receive a mail confirmation about the process. By the way, in this guide you will learn how to change your password if you have access to the site.

Other options if you have forgotten your WordPress password

In addition to the procedure described above, recovering a forgotten password is also possible via the FTP client. However, for this you will need your FTP credentials and basic knowledge of PHP. To use this method, connect to your server and open the functions.php file of your theme under "/wp-content/themes/your-theme/". Add the PHP tag "wp_set_password ('new-password', 1 // User ID);" there and upload the file back to the themes folder. Now log in to WordPress as usual and remove the inserted tag afterwards.
