Baldur's Gate 3: Release planned - but when? All info

Baldur's Gate 2 is one of the absolute legends among classic role-playing games. Many years later, a third part is finally in the works. Our guide summarizes what is known so far about the release of Baldur's Gate 3.

Larian Studios is working on Baldur's Gate 3, but patience is still required.

Baldur's Gate 2 was released in 2000, making it a part of video game history. Accordingly, the expectations of the successor are great.

Baldur's Gate 3: Release 2019 ruled out

But while part 2 was still developed by BioWare, it is now the turn of Larian Studios. The Belgian studio is by no means unknown, as it was responsible for Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2. The Divinity series was very successful, as it was released for consoles in addition to the PC.

• Baldur's Gate 3 should thus be in good hands. The official announcement was made in June 2019.
• Since work has only recently begun, a release date is not yet foreseeable. A release still 2019 is thus considered impossible.
• 2020 would be the earliest realistic date, however, this is also far from certain.
• The third part will appear for PC and Google Stadia. It is not a direct continuation of the second part, but will only be set in the same universe.
• The game will again be based on the D&D rules. In cooperative multiplayer mode, the adventure should thus come as close as possible to the original pen&paper feel.
