The Sims 5: Release planned at all? We clarify

As a real perennial favorite, the fourth part of the Sims series is still very popular. Nevertheless, many fans of the series are already setting their sights on a possible sequel. We explain the state of affairs.

The Sims 5 will probably not be released for several years - if at all.

When The Sims 4 was released on September 4, 2014, good sales figures were foreseeable due to its successful predecessors. That it still looks dazzling some five years later, however, was hardly plannable, and that has implications for the sequel.

The Sims 5: Release likely - but not in the foreseeable future

Following info and thoughts are known on the subject:
  • Officially, there have been no statements about a fifth part. It can only be speculated whether this is planned at all or is perhaps already in an early stage of development.
  • The reason for this is that there is no need: First, there is virtually no serious genre competition, and second, The Sims 4 has been very lucrative to date. The supply of paid DLCs does not stop, only recently appeared with island life a new highlight.
The Sims 4 brings publisher Electronic Arts and developer Maxis thus still flowing income. And since the game has already been on the market since 2014, the half-life seems to be very long. So a successor is not all that urgent at the moment. That there will be one day anyway, is nevertheless likely, since the franchise is extremely successful and a continuation is therefore only consistent.
