iPhone X: GPS - how to use the location function

If you have activated the GPS on the iPhone X, apps installed on the device have the possibility to determine and use your location data. How to allow or restrict individual apps from using location services is explained here.

How GPS works on the iPhone X

The iPhone X, like most other Apple devices, has a GPS function. When enabled, it uses Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspots, and cell towers to determine the location of your iPhone X.
  1. Certain apps that you use on your iPhone X require access to the device's GPS feature in order to function properly.
  2. If you have reinstalled an app that uses GPS, you will be asked for permission about the use of location services when you first open the app.
  3. You then have the choice to allow the app to use GPS by tapping "Allow" or deny permission by selecting the "Do not allow" option.

These options for GPS use are available

Even if you have allowed an app to use GPS, there is always the option to turn off location services for individual apps. To do so, navigate to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Location Services" on your Phone X and select one of the apps that use GPS to view the other options. While you can always deny the app access to the GPS feature by selecting the "Never" option, you can restrict GPS usage by tapping "When using the app".
