Install Apple Carplay: Here's how
With Apple Carplay, you can use features of your iPhone while driving in the car such as making phone calls, sending messages or playing music from your iTunes library. To do this, all you need to do is install Apple Carplay.
You can use either a touchscreen or voice command to operate all apps, so you experience as few distractions as possible while driving. For example, you can have Siri navigate you smartly and safely to your destination. Before you can set up Apple Carplay, you should check if you meet all the necessary requirements. You will need an iPhone 5 or newer model to use Carplay. You will also need a Lightning cable to connect your iOS device to your car.Since Apple's voice assistant Siri handles crucial functions of Carplay, it must be enabled on your iPhone. If you have deactivated Siri, you can turn it back on under Settings>General>Siri. Then navigate again in the settings to "General> Carplay" to activate the function.How to use the function
If you want to retrofit Carplay, also make sure beforehand that the car stereo you need to install for this is compatible with your vehicle.- Turn on the ignition of your car.
- Connect the Lightning cable to iPhone and the corresponding port. If you are using a wireless connection, press and hold the voice control button on the steering wheel.
- Now activate Siri by saying "Hey Siri". While doing so, you may need to press the voice control button on your steering wheel. You can also hold down the home button on your smartphone until Siri is activated.
- After that, you can directly use all functions by voice control or via the touch display.
