In order to save created ZIP files back to their original format, it is necessary to extract the files. This can be done either with the on-board means of your computer or by using an additional program for unpacking. We will show you which programs are available in our article.

How you extract ZIP files depends on whether you want to extract the entire ZIP folder or just individual files. To extract an entire ZIP folder, please right-click on it and select "Extract All" from the context menu. To extract only individual files of a ZIP folder, first double-click on the compressed folder to open it. Then select a file from the folder and drag or copy it to a new location.

If the above method does not work for you, you can use a special packing program to extract a file or folder instead.

1. One program for extracting ZIP files is WinZip. If you have WinZip installed on your computer, right-click on the ZIP file you want to extract and select "WinZip" > "Unzip here" from the context menu.
2. Alternatively, to extract a file, you can also use WinRAR and extract the ZIP file by selecting "WinRAR" > "Extract files" from the context menu.
