If you need only the sound from a video, it is possible to extract the sound track and save it as a separate file. For this you do not need any special software, but can use the free VLC media player. This is available for Windows as well as for macOS and Linux and allows you to save the audio track as an MP3, FLAC or OGG file.

How to extract an audio track from a video

If you have not yet installed the VLC media player on your computer, please do so first. Then launch the VLC player and perform the following steps:

1. Navigate to the "Media" tab in the program's menu and select "Convert/Save".
2. After that, click "File" and "Add" and select the video you want to extract the audio from.
