what3words: Which languages are supported?

The address information of what3words relies on words instead of numbers. This is supposed to make the input much easier than by GPS coordinates. Languages consequently play an important role.

Growing selection: Currently, what3words lets you choose from more than 35 languages.

The total of 57 trillion squares on which the what3words world map is built requires a large vocabulary as a foundation. This is available in various languages.

How what3words works with languages

The advantage of the three-word addresses of what3words is supposed to be the simple input. However, this is only true if the words are also known and understandable. The appropriate language is therefore even more important - after all, Italian words, for example, are not necessarily memorable for German users.
  • As of the beginning of 2021, what3words is available in over 35 languages.
  • This allows the direct translation of three-word addresses depending on preference.
  • In addition to the language, this also applies to the characters. Thus, Chinese, Japanese or Cyrillic character sets are also supported.
One and the same address can thus be used understandably for a variety of users around the world. You change the language by opening the menu at the top right and then selecting the appropriate option.
