MacOS Yosemite: Change folder color
In macOS Yosemite, the user interface can be personalized in several ways. As in previous versions of the operating system, you can color-code folders with tags. If that's not enough, you can also use a trick to completely recolor the icons.
Customize folder color - here's how to do it
In macOS Yosemite, you can use the Preview app or Pages to color the folder icon the way you want. To do this, follow these steps:- Click the folder you want to colorize with the right mouse button.
- Select "Information" from the context menu.
- Click the folder icon in the upper left corner with the left mouse button and press [CMD] + [C].
- Open the "Preview App" and paste the copied icon. This works by clicking on "File" in the navigation and select the item "New from Clipboard".
- Now call the "Color Correction" via the item "Tools" in the menu bar and adjust the folder color as desired.
- Once you have found the right color, press the key combination [CMD] + [A] to select everything and then [CMD] + [C] to copy the contents.
- Switch back to the information window from step two.
- Select the folder icon there again and press [CMD] + [V] to paste the recolored icon.
