Windows 10: Change window color - how it works

By default, the window color in Windows 10 is white. To change this, you have several options. In addition to being able to use a dark theme for your operating system, you can also choose a separate color for the title bars of the windows.

Dark Theme: How to change the window color in Windows 10

The color of the windows is white by default in Windows 10 if you have enabled the Light Theme in the settings. In addition, however, you also have the option of using a dark design, the so-called Dark Theme.

1. To change the window color, right-click on an empty space on the desktop and select "Customize" from the context menu.
2. Alternatively, you can also access the settings in Windows 10 by pressing the key combination of "Windows key" + "I" and clicking on "Personalization".
3. Then click on the left in the menu bar on the item "Colors" and scroll to "More options".
4. To use the Dark Theme instead of the Light Theme, click now under "Select color" on "Dark".

In addition to being able to change the window color from light to dark, you can also select a different color for title bars and window frames. To do this, navigate to "Settings" > "Personalization" > "Colors" again and select one from the palette of Windows colors. Then place a check mark next to the "Title bars" entry so that the frames of all windows are colored accordingly.
