RimWorld: Recruit prisoners - how it works

If you want to grow your RimWorld colony, prisoners are one of several options. We explain how to recruit your prisoners and what's involved.

On parole: prisoners you can recruit to your colony after some time.

If your colony is raided and you defeat the attackers, you can capture wounded. The time spent in prison significantly influences whether you can recruit the former enemy as a settler.

RimWorld: How to recruit prisoners

Two aspects are especially important:
  • The "social" skill of your settler, who is tasked with prisoner supervision. The higher the skill, the better the chances of recruitment.
  • The mood of the prisoner: Make sure that the prisoner lacks nothing, so that his mood is as high as possible. In addition to the food supply, this also concerns the equipment of the cell and factors such as lighting, a comfortable temperature or intact clothing.
In addition, there are individual preferences of the prisoner, such as the dislike of men or women - so this should also be taken into account. To advance the recruitment, proceed as follows:
  1. Click on the prisoner.
  2. Select the "Prison" tab in the menu at the bottom left.
  3. Now you can set an interaction, and that is "Recruit". However, above it you will see the remaining resistance and the difficulty of recruitment. Depending on the value, you may need to select "Reduce Resistance" before recruiting.
The resistance decreases due to the above actions. If the value is low enough, switch to "Recruit" - a short time later your community will have a new member.
