RimWorld in older version: How it works

RimWorld lives like no other game from its huge active modding scene. However, these very mods can cause problems when the game is updated. We explain how you can launch RimWorld in an older version.

Free choice: Steam lists all previous RimWorld versions and makes them playable.

After all, mods are often designed for a specific game version and are therefore no longer compatible after there has been an update.

RimWorld: Older versions all available in Steam

To not lose your save game and continue playing with all previous mods, follow these steps:

1. Right-click on the Steam entry of Rimworld and select "Properties".
2. Call up the "Betas" section in the additional window.
3. Open the selection bar and decide on one of the displayed game versions.

The download of the required files and the update will then take place automatically. Thanks to the large selection of game versions - even the alpha versions are still available - you will always find a version that is compatible with your mods.
