Excel: Restore older version - how to do it

In Excel you have numerous functions at your disposal with which you can manage or visualize your tables. In the process, you usually make numerous changes, which you also save. However, if you want to undo numerous changes, you have the option to revert to an earlier version of your file.

How to restore an older version of your Excel file

Having made many changes, it can be tedious if you want to undo all the changes. In this case, it may be useful to restore an older version of your Excel file. However, the procedure depends on whether you have saved the version you want to restore or not. If the file is saved using the "AutoRecover" function, then you have the option of accessing all saved versions. To do this, open the file that you want to restore to a previous version. Go to "File" and then to "Information". Here, select "Manage workbook". Now you will see the "Restore" button in the top bar. If the file has not been saved, then you will have to proceed differently.
  1. Open the worksheet and click on "File". Then click on "Information" and now on "Manage documents".
  2. Here you select the option "Restore unsaved workbooks".
  3. Click on the older version of the file you want to restore and click on the "Restore" button.
  4. Using "Save as" you can save the old version of the document.
