Windows: How to restore a restore point

Restore points allow you to restore problems with your operating system or even lost files quite easily in Windows. They are also particularly useful in the case of faulty updates. Restore points are not created automatically by Windows, so create some manually on a regular basis.

To properly use a restore point, you need to perform some steps chronologically. However, the work is worth it, as it usually solves all problems.

1. Enter "Control Panel" in the search box. Now click the first entry.
2. In the new window, select the item "System and Security" and then navigate to "Security and Maintenance".
3. Select the item "Recovery" and then click "Open System Restore".
4. If you are not an administrator, you will now be asked for the data of the admin.
5. Wählen Sie den gewünschten Wiederherstellungspunkt aus und klicken Sie auf „Weiter“.
6. Sind Sie mit der Auswahl zufrieden, klicken Sie auf „Fertig stellen“ und bestätigen zu guter Letzt die Sicherheitswarnung mit „Ja“.

Wiederherstellungspunkt erstellen

1. Die Erstellung läuft beinahe identisch ab. Folgen Sie der Anleitung erneut bis zu Punkt 3 und wählen Sie Systemwiederherstellung konfigurieren.
2. Suchen Sie nun einen Speicherort sowie das gewünschte Laufwerk zur Speicherung aus und folgen Sie den Anweisungen.
3. Abschließend vergeben Sie dem Punkt einen Namen und klicken auf „Erstellen“.
