WhatsApp: Save profile pictures - these options are available

For a long time, WhatsApp had a built-in feature to save your contacts' profile pictures on your smartphone. In the meantime, however, this is no longer available. How the storage of other people's profile pictures still works and how you can save your own profile picture, we show you here.

WhatsApp: How to save your contacts' profile pictures

In the past, it was possible in WhatsApp to save the profile picture of one of your contacts by selecting the picture, opening the three-dot menu and tapping "Save". Since this function no longer exists in the newer WhatsApp versions, saving a profile picture is now only possible via a detour.

1. To use this, first open WhatsApp and call up the overview of chats or your contacts, respectively.
2. Then press the profile picture you want to save to open it and tap the "i icon".
3. Thereupon opens the page with the contact details, on which you please tap again on the profile picture to enlarge it.
4. Make a screenshot of the displayed profile picture now via keyboard shortcut to save it in the screenshot folder of your smartphone.

In WhatsApp save your own profile picture

Would you like to save your own profile picture instead of the profile picture of a contact, this is, however, possible directly in WhatsApp. To do this, first tap on the icon with the three dots to open the menu and select the "Settings" option in it. Then press twice on your profile picture and select the "Share icon" in the top right corner to save your profile picture in the gallery of your smartphone.
