WhatsApp: Pictures gone - what you can do

Pictures gone from WhatsApp: Restore via backup

If you delete pictures in WhatsApp, they are not in the recycle bin afterwards, as you know it from the PC, but are completely deleted. Android smartphones offer the possibility to rescue not yet overwritten data from the memory.

1. Open WhatsApp, select "Settings" and in the menu "Chats" the "Chat Backup".
2. Here you can see when the last backup was performed. If the deleted image was still present at that time, the backup is suitable for recovery.
3. Before you take further steps to restore, you must back up all data received after the backup on your smartphone.
4. Now delete WhatsApp and download the latest version from your Play Store.
5. Take WhatsApp in operation by entering your number. You will now be asked if you want to import the last backup. Confirm this.

Recover from memory

This option is only available for Android smartphones. With a little effort, deleted data can be recovered from the phone memory. However, your smartphone must have root access for this.Be careful with your data, because data recovery can be tricky. As a precaution, enable WhatsApp backup. This makes the recovery of deleted data easier, but depends on the time of the last update.
