Creating a Windows 10 restore point

For many problems with your operating system, resetting your PC can help. If you don't always want to completely reinstall Windows 10, then it can be helpful to use a restore point. This is not a full backup, but many system files are backed up.

How to create a restore point with Windows 10

If you do not always want to completely reinstall your system, you can create a restore point. With this, certain system files are saved. You can thus always return to the restore point.
  1. In Windows 10, enter "Control Panel" in the search field at the bottom left and open it by double-clicking on the search result of the same name.
  2. Select the item "System and Security" here. About "Display" > "Category" you can make the display in the window more clearly.
  3. In the next window, click on "Security and Maintenance".
  4. Bottom right is the button "Recovery". Click on it.
  5. Next, under "Advanced Recovery Tools", select "Configure System Restore".
  6. Now you can specify a drive from which you want to make the point.
  7. Confirm your selection via "Configure". Confirm "Enable computer protection" and repeat the process with all desired drives.
  8. Click "Create". Then you can give your restore point a name.
  9. Confirm the following windows via the "Create" button.
  10. After the process is complete, you can reload your system from this point.
