Secure boot violation at startup: what to look out for

A number of Asus notebooks display a certain error message accompanied by a red screen when Windows 7 starts. In computer science, a red screen means that there is a serious error. Fortunately, you can address the problem yourself and possibly even fix it.

This is where the error comes from

The so-called Secure Boot is used to protect the computer from errors in the BIOS. The function is actually only available from Windows 8 and therefore led to errors more often after an update of Windows 7.

1. Asus users who continue to update on a Windows 7 operating system could potentially run into a problem.
2. The update KB3133977 leads to the error on various notebooks that the BIOS assumes to be able to boot normally, but the update suggests an error and thus it comes to a standstill.
3. In order to fix the error, Secure Boot has to be disabled manually.

How to disable Secure Boot

1. To disable the function manually, you need to go into the BIOS before starting your computer.
