Windows: resize desktop icons

In Windows you have the possibility to put shortcuts of your programs on the desktop. If you need a folder or file frequently, it is worthwhile to display it on the desktop, as this allows quick access. If you find the icons too small, you can change their size.

How to resize desktop icons in Windows

If you need quick access to certain files or applications in Windows 10 at any time, you can create desktop shortcuts. This creates an icon on the desktop that you can double-click to access files or launch an application. If the desktop icons are too small or too large for you, you can always adjust the size. However, there are only limited options for you to choose from.

1. Go with your mouse to a free space on the desktop.
2. Click on the "View" entry in the opened menu.
3. Here you now have various options to choose from. You can choose between "Large icons", "Medium icons" and "Small icons". An exact setting of the size is currently not possible. Alternatively, you can hold down the "CTRL" key on the desktop. Then use the mouse wheel to adjust the size of the icons. Again, an exact adjustment is not possible.
4. Have you decided on an option, click on it. The size of the icons will be changed immediately.
