Origin won't load - here's how to get the launcher working

Origin is Electronic Arts' in-house distribution platform, through which you can buy and download all of the developer and publisher's games. Accordingly, it's annoying when the Origin client causes problems and doesn't load or launch as usual.

Origin won't launch or load

If Origin's desktop client doesn't load properly or hangs when you open it, it could be due to a number of reasons.

• Make sure you have the latest version of the client installed on your system. After all, Electronic Arts fixes bugs and other problems through regular updates. Whether an update is available is checked automatically when you start the program - unless the function has been manually disabled in Origin's program settings.
• From time to time it happens that Origin hangs when you start the program and therefore does not load. You can then manually terminate the processes "Origin" and "OriginWebHelperService" via the Task Manager. After that, Origin should start and work again as usual.
• Also check your internet connection. If this is disturbed, this can also lead to long loading times in the store or to problems with updates.

Reinstall Origin

If the problems persist, it can help to reinstall Origin.

1. Uninstall Origin first. On Windows, this can be done via the System Preferences.
2. Then download the latest version of Origin. You can find this for example on the Origin website.
3. After downloading, run the installation file and follow the instructions of the installation wizard.

Once the installation is complete, you can start Origin and log in with your user account.
