"Ok Google": Use the assistant for navigation

The voice assistant from Google offers you numerous commands with which you can perform various actions on your smartphone. In addition to requesting information, you can also control Google functions. Navigation with Google Maps is also possible if you have an Android device.

How navigation works with "Ok Google"

As soon as you say OK Google, Google's voice assistant is activated and waits for your commands. However, this is only possible if you have previously downloaded the app or the assistant is already integrated on the device. If you also want to use the assistant for navigation, you need an Android device. It is also necessary to be logged into the same Google account in both the Google Maps app and the Google Assistant app. Note that this feature is not available in all languages.
  1. If you want to use the navigation with the voice assistant, then first open the Google Maps app.
  2. After that, you can activate the assistant directly via the command "Ok Google". If you have disabled this option in the settings, you can also turn on the assistant via the microphone icon.
  3. Now you can utter a command or a question. You activate a search via "How do I get to ". Anschließend müssen Sie den Ort nennen, zu dem Sie fahren möchten.
  4. Über den Befehl „Show me a map of“ können Sie sich, wenn Sie auch hier den entsprechenden Ort nennen, eine Karte anzeigen lassen.
