Youth Word of the Year failed in 2019

For unspecified reasons, there was no Youth Word of the Year election at all in 2019.

• The election was always conducted by Langenscheidt.
• Because of major changes within the publishing house as well as the entire industry, the election had to be suspended in 2019.
• So Langenscheidt was taken over by PONS in 2019, which caused a lot of upheaval internally.

For the language of the youth, of course, this does not matter; on the number of creative neologisms, the cancellation of the election therefore did not change anything. In 2020, the election took place again and found a clear winner with "lost".
