FritzBox: USB remote port - how to use it correctly
The FritzBox has several USB remote ports to connect devices such as printers or scanners directly to the router. If you have activated the function, you can then access the devices from different Windows computers. We show you how to set up the USB remote port before using it.

Thanks to the USB remote port on the FritzBox, you can access devices such as scanners, external hard drives or printers from multiple Windows computers without having to keep moving them around. In order to use the USB remote port of your FritzBox, it is necessary to set up the port beforehand. To do this, connect the USB device to be connected to a USB port on the FritzBox and call up the FritzBox user interface at "http://fritz.box".- Log in there with your password in the FritzBox menu, navigate to "Home Network" > "USB Devices" > "USB Remote Port" and place a check mark next to "USB Remote Port Active" to enable use.
- Then click on the displayed link "Must the program for USB remote connection be installed" and download the download located there to your PC.
- Once the download has been successfully installed, click "Apply" in the FritzBox user interface to activate the function.
- The previously installed FritzBox utility will then start automatically and show you all available FritzBoxes and connected devices.
- To connect to one of these devices, please log in with your username and password and click "Connect" next to the device.
