Excel: Scale X-axis - how to customize charts
In Microsoft Excel you have the option to display data as a chart. Usually, text labels are displayed on the X-axis of the chart and the corresponding numerical values are displayed on the Y-axis. If you want to adjust the axes, this works via the axis options.
Adjust X-axis - this is how to use the scaling options
If you want to scale the X-axis of a chart in Excel, you need to go to Axis options, there you will find all the corresponding setting options. Follow these steps to open the adjustment options:- Start Excel and open a file.
- Select the chart you want to adjust the axes on with the left mouse button.
- Once you have selected the chart, a new menu will open to the right of the worksheet titled "Format Axis".
- Click on the X axis in the chart to select it and switch to the "Axis Options" in the "Format Axis" window.
- In the Axis Options you have, among other things, the option to adjust the limits, units as well as the display units. If you change these options, the scaling of the axis changes. Furthermore, you can also activate a logarithmic scaling of the X-axis.
