Software updates for Android - search and install

If you have an Android smartphone, it can happen that the device no longer runs decently. The reason for this is often a missing update. But this grievance can be easily fixed by simply letting Android check if it is up to date and if all updates are installed.

How to install software updates for Android

To make Android check for available updates, use a feature that is already natively installed.
  1. Open the settings of your Android phone by tapping on the corresponding app. This will be indicated by a white gear with a blue background.
  2. Now go to "System" > "Advanced" > "System updates". If the option "Advanced" is not displayed for you, then tap on the option "About the phone".
  3. In the View you can see your Android version and the status of updates. If updates are available, you will now be notified about them and can download and install them directly with a tap on "Update".
  4. Which updates are available depends on the respective manufacturer and the age of your cell phone.
If no more updates are installed and you also receive no notifications, then it may be that your Android smartphone has a fault. In this case, it is a good idea to reset the phone to factory settings and then restore.
