Android 11: Disable automatic updates

If you have updated your smartphone to Android 11, you will receive regular updates. These usually include more features or close important security holes. However, if you do not want them to be downloaded and installed automatically, you can easily disable the function.

How to disable automatic updates on Android 11

To ensure that you can always use your device as usual, it makes sense to download and install updates regularly. Usually, this happens automatically under Android 11. However, if you do not want these automatic updates, you can disable the function. Note that the procedure can differ depending on the smartphone manufacturer. Usually, however, only the buttons are named differently.
  1. Open the Settings app on your device. You can usually recognize this by the gear icon of the application.
  2. Now directly select the option "Software Update" here. In some cases, you must first go to "About device" or "Options" > "About device" or "General" > "Device information" to find the option.
  3. 3. Here you will now find the entry "Automatic update". You can disable this.
  4. Alternatively, open the Google Play Store and tap on the menu icon on the top left. Here you select "Settings". Tippen Sie danach auf „Automatische App-Updates“.
  5. Nun können Sie auch an dieser Stelle die Option „Keine Automatische Updates“ aktivieren.
