Does the Nintendo Switch have Bluetooth? Practical tips

Many Nintendo Switch users would like to connect their Bluetooth headphones to the small console. But the device does not have Bluetooth. Annoying, because Bluetooth headphones are becoming increasingly popular on the market. But with a trick you do not have to do without your Bluetooth devices even with the Switch.

How to use Bluetooth devices on the Switch

The Nintendo Switch console cannot establish its own Bluetooth connection. This bothers many Switch owners, as it prevents them from using their Bluetooth headphones. However, there is a way to retrofit the Switch's hardware. For this, you need an adapter, which you can get for little money on the Internet or in specialized stores. This establishes a Bluetooth connection and connects to the Switch via a USB or AUX port. There are different models that have different advantages. Consider which features are important to you before you decide on a type of adapter.

You can use these adapters

  1. Bluetooth to USB-C adapter: You plug this adapter into the USB-C port of your Switch. The biggest drawback is that these adapters only transmit sound, but do not support a microphone function.
  2. Bluetooth to jack adapter: the device is connected via the AUX port and then establishes a Bluetooth connection. This also makes it compatible with conventional speakers, computers and many smartphones. However, a microphone function is not possible here.
  3. Bluetooth to USB adapter: These devices can only be used in the TV mode of the Switch. For this, the microphone can then also be used.
