Apple Pay payment declined - these are the reasons
Apple Pay is a convenient alternative to paying with a card or cash. You simply use your Apple device to make contactless payments at online retailers or stores. However, if a payment is rejected with Apple Pay, the hassle is usually great. You can find out how this can happen here.
Why it can happen when an Apple Pay payment is declined
Apple Pay is accepted for payment in many stores, but not all. In addition, there are other possible reasons for a declined Apple Pay payment.- Always look for the "Apple Pay icon" or the "NFC icon" on the cash register. Apple Pay will not work on payment terminals that are not NFC-enabled.
- The card you want to use for Apple Pay must have been issued by a cooperating bank.
- A declined payment can also be attributed to a blocked or expired credit card. Therefore, check the expiration date and the amount available on your card.
- Some credit cards must be reactivated after a long period of inactivity via a physical payment, otherwise they will not work on Apple Pay.
- For online payments, a connection issue to the merchant site may also be responsible for a declined payment. Try redoing the transaction or doing it at a later time.
