Ubuntu: Where do I find my USB stick?

Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux distributions, thanks to its ease of use and user interface. Under Ubuntu, if you want to move data from your PC to a removable drive, such as a USB stick, you need to know where to find it. Under Ubuntu, this is easily done via the file manager.

How to access your USB stick in Ubuntu

USB sticks are among the most popular removable storage devices because they are small, compact and easy to carry. Often, a USB stick is also used to install a new operating system or to back up important data before resetting. For this reason, the USB stick should always be quickly available.
  1. Plug your USB stick into your PC and wait until Ubuntu has recognized it. You can tell because a small window with the words "USB stick" appears at the top of the screen.
  2. Go to the menu bar on the left in Ubuntu and click on the small icon that looks like a filing cabinet so that the file manager is launched.
  3. In the window that now opens, you will find the USB stick on the left side.
