Google Home Bluetooth: How to connect

The Google Home - a smart speaker and voice assistant - gives you the ability to play music wirelessly via Bluetooth from a variety of sources and services (eg.e.g. your mobile device, iTunes, Audible).

The initial setup of Google Home with a Bluetooth device is very simple using the Google Home app and your mobile device's Bluetooth settings.

Pairing your mobile device and Google Home

This is how you pair your mobile device with your Google Home device:
  1. Download and open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your Bluetooth device.
  3. Now tap the gear icon to open the settings.
  4. Under "General Settings", navigate to "Paired Bluetooth Devices" > Enable pairing mode".
  5. Enable Bluetooth on your device, such as your laptop or speaker, and pair it with Google Home.
Your mobile device will now be paired with your Google Home. You can play your music wirelessly: to do this, play your locally stored music or open the corresponding app of a music service.

Unpair mobile device and Google Home

If you have paired several devices, Google Home automatically connects to the last paired device. If you want to unpair one of your devices, proceed similarly to the pairing process.
  1. Go to your device's device card in the app.
  2. Tap the menu on the device card and navigate to "Settings" and "Paired Bluetooth devices".
  3. Press the X next to the device you want to unpair.
