Miitomo is an app from Nintendo that was released in 2016 for both iOS and Android. The app served as a messaging service that was primarily intended to get shy people talking to each other. However, the app was discontinued in May 2018.

This is how you could add friends on Miitomo

Nintendo's messaging app was meant to help shy people in particular meet new friends. In the app, it was possible for you to create your own Mii character. Appearance as well as voice and personality could be specified. Friends could be added to the app by going to your Mii character's room.

1. In the room, you can click the "Friends" button and then click "Add Friend."
2. Once you are at your friend's house, you can also send a friend request directly.
3. A friend request appears in your room in the "Friends" area and can then be accepted.
4. After that, the two Mii characters can talk to each other and exchange messages.

Note that the operation of the app was already completely suspended on 09.05.2018. However, this was done without an official reason, and the shutdown of the app was probably due to low user numbers, even after two years.
