PDF will not save: This may be the reason
If your PDF document won't save, first try choosing "Save As" instead of "Save" and assign a new file name. However, if you get an error message that the file is already open, you will need to make a change in Windows settings before you can save the document.
Why won't the PDF save?
If you try to save your PDF and get an error message, there are several possible causes. Mostly there is a problem with the Windows preview behind it. You will then receive the error message "File is already open". This is because Windows opens the Word document in the preview and Word thinks the file is opened twice. In this case, you must close the file completely and make a change in the Control Panel.- But there may also be an error in the authentication. Then the PDF program detects a password protection, which protects against editing the document and can also prevent saving.
- If this is not really present, it is usually enough to save the document under a new name, instead of just saving changes in the same document.
- If the document is actually password protected, you first need the correct password before you can make changes.
