What Pokémon games are there? An overview

Pokémon is, in addition to the anime, also a game series that can be played on consoles from Nintendo. Back in 1998, the first two Pokémon games were released, laying the foundation for the development of other titles. The games released at that time were exclusively playable on the Game Boy.

What Pokémon games are there?

After the release of the Pokémon Green and Red games in Japan, it was clear that the titles were a success. Shortly thereafter, production began for the European market.

1. Due to the poor programming of both games, localization into other languages was hardly possible.
2. For this reason, Pokémon Red and Blue were created on the basis of Pokémon Green, which were then also available for purchase in Europe and are considered the first Pokémon games.
3. Among various other Pokémon titles, the official successors to the series, Pokémon Silver and Gold, appeared in 2000 for the Game Boy Color.
4. Three years later, the third generation appeared with the editions Ruby and Sapphire.
5. The fourth generation Pokémon was launched on the European market in 2007.
6. Between this time, two titles were developed for the Nintendo Gamecube: Pokémon Colosseum und Pokémon XD.
7. Es folgten die Editionen Schwarz und Weiß sowie Schwarz und Weiß 2 und einige Remakes älterer Titel.
8. Weiterhin folgten Pokémon X und Y sowie im Anschluss Pokémon Sonne und Mond.
9. Als aktuellste Titel gelten Pokémon Ultra Sonne und Ultra Mond.
