Set background in Open Office presentation

If plain white is too monotonous for you, you can set the background of your presentation in Open Office the way you like it best. You can choose from a variety of colors, gradients, patterns and even your own images.

Set color, gradient or hatching as background in Open Office presentation

By default, the slides of your presentation in Open Office are always white. If you wish to set a different color or prefer a nice gradient or even a pattern, you can apply this to a single slide as well as to all slides.
  1. Open your presentation in Open Office.
  2. If you want to change the background for a single slide, then right-click the background (not the slide) and choose "Slide > Page Setup". Here you now select color, gradient or pattern.
  3. On the other hand, if you want to set the background for all slides, click "Format" at the top and then "Page".
  4. Switch to "Background" and select a color, gradient or hatch for your slides.
  5. Finally click "OK".

Use your own image for slides

If you want to use an image as slide background, it must meet some requirements. For example, it is mandatory that you save it as a bitmap file with the .BMP file extension. Once you have created the file, proceed as follows:
  1. Navigate to "Format > Area" in Open Office.
  2. Then click on "Bitmap Pattern" and select your image under "Import".
  3. Then navigate to "Format > Page > Background" as described above and you can use your graphic under "Bitmap".
