Connecting Alexa to TV - how the pairing works

Alexa is the voice assistant developed by Amazon that allows you to control all devices connected to it by voice. If you would like to use Alexa to control your TV, we will not only show you here what the prerequisites are, but also explain the necessary steps to connect.

Connecting Alexa to TV: These are the requirements

If you have an Alexa device, such as the Amazon Echo, it is possible to connect it to your TV and control the device via Alexa. However, for this to work, some conditions must be met. For example, you not only need a Smart TV, but also an Android phone with the "Smart TV Remote" app installed. In addition, a connection of Alexa with the TV set is only possible if you have activated the corresponding skill in the Alexa app.

How to connect Alexa with a TV set

If the requirements for pairing Alexa and the TV set are met, first turn on your Alexa device and open the Smart TV Remote app on your smartphone.

1. Now activate, either by voice command or via the Alexa home page in the browser, the Alexa Skill "Smart TV Remote".
2. Then go to the app on your smartphone and navigate in this to "Settings" > "Amazon Echo" > "Register". You will then receive a code with which you can connect the devices.
3. To do this, use the command "Alexa, say Smart Remote: Register the app with code "XXX" and replace the placeholder "XXX" thereby with the previously received code.
