Change Apple ID on Mac: What you need to do

On Mac, you change your Apple ID by entering a different email address or by signing in with a different account. You customize your account both through System Preferences on your Mac and in the browser.

How to change Apple ID on Mac

If you want to use a different email address for your Apple ID via your Mac, you can do so both in the browser and in System Preferences. To do this, it is best to proceed as follows:
  1. Click on the Apple logo and select "System Preferences".
  2. Then navigate to "Apple ID" > "Name, Phone, Email".
  3. Under "Email Addresses", now add a new address. You can not yet delete the currently used Apple ID email address in this step.
  4. Now open the browser and log in to Apple with your credentials.
  5. Then select "Edit" in the "Account" section.
  6. Followed by click on "Change Apple ID" in the "Apple ID" section. Select the newly entered email address here.
  7. Click "Next" and follow the instructions. Confirm your email address via the email sent to your mailbox.
  8. After making the changes, you will need to sign in to all services again.

Select another account on Mac

If you want to select another Apple ID account on your Mac instead, you will first need to sign out of all services. To do this, navigate to "Apple" > "System Preferences" > "Apple ID" > "Overview" and click "Sign out". Then log in the same way with the other account.
